The usual price for this day trip is $15 and includes lunch, soft drinks, snorkelling equipment & life jackets. Departure is approximately 8:00 in the morning and the boat returns to Serendipity Beach at 16:00.

Ream National Park
Out tourist information center can organise a full day trip to Ream National Park which is just 18 km from sihanoukville by mini bus. When you arrive at the park, you embark on a ranger boat which meanders along Preak Teak Sap river and through the mangrove forest channels. Here you should see some local wild life & several different varieties of birds. The boat meanders down the river past a local fishing village towards the sea where upon you can spend some time swimming or just enjoying the natural beauty of this deserted beach. The tour stops here for a spot of lunch and drinks before setting back on foot for some trekking through the jungle. The cost of this trip is 20$ and includes transfer from your hotel in Sihanoukville, breakfast, lunch, fresh fruits and soft drinks. There is also an English speaking guide.
Bokor Mountain
Bokor Mountain is currently closed to the public as it is being developed into a 500 room luxury resort. When this re-opens, the resort is set atop a 1080 metre mountian with dramatic views of the coast. The climate here is very different here and can even be quite chilly.

Eating Out -
Sea View Villa Restaurant
The Sea View Villa Restaurant specializes in tantalising European cuisine at a very reasonable price. Our French chef with over 30 years experience provides some of the most tantalising dishes available in Sihanoukville. The majority of dishes are made using local ingredients although some of the finer items are imported. Take a look at our menu to see which of the dishes takes your fancy.
Cabbage Garden
Typical Cambodian fare. This hidden gem is still not frequented by many travellers as it is relatively difficult to find. However, on any night you will find quite a few local foreigners eating here as it has large portions and an amazing selection at extremely low prices.
Happa
Located at the top of Serendipity Beach Road, this restaurant provides good quality Tepanyaki style food at a reasonable price. Dishes to look out for include the Dim Sum, Fillet Steak and the Tofu dishes are especially nice.
Mick & Craigs
Located close to the Golden Lions Roundabout, this is one of the original eateries in the Serendipity area. They mainly specialize in theme nights including; Mexican, Sunday Roast, Indian and Italian.
The Mexican
Tex Mex to be more precise. Situated between Happa and Mick & Craigs, this eatery has the usual suspects in any Mexican of Nachos, Tacos, Burritos, Fajitas, Chilli Con Carne etc. The portions are large and the prices are reasonable considering.
Angelos
Sihanoukvilles only Greek Restaurant. This restaurant also does mouth watering BBQs with imported meats.
Pims
An eat as much as you like style buffet with salads, meat dishes and several vegetarian options as well. Twice weekly they have the children of the Mlop Tpang Charity perform traditional Apsara dancing for your entertainment.

This club leads out on to the beach where you can watch some amazing sunsets.

Money
The U.S. dollar is one of two official currencies in Cambodia. The other is the Cambodian riel. Moneychangers are plentiful, shop around for good rates but inspect the bills, as even a small tear in a U.S. dollar renders it useless. Use U.S. dollars for big purchases and riels for small.
1$=4000Real
0.50$=2000Real
0.25$=1000Real
ATM's are located all over Sihanoukville. There are 4 in or around the Golden Lions, plus twice that in downtown. Downtown is where all of the banks are situated so if you need a money transfer then this is where you should start.
Visas
Visas to Cambodia are compulsory for all visitors with very few exceptions (one being Sweden). These can be arranged in your country of residence if you have diplomatic relations with Cambodia, but we would advise you to apply for one when arriving in Cambodia. The price for one month is $25 and this can be extended for a maximum of a further two months. Watch out if you are crossing over from the borders of Thailand, Laos or Vietnam as someone will offer to do this for you (a simple case of filling out the form) for an extortionate fee of between $5 and $10. If you are arriving at Phnom Phen airport, then this process is very stringently monitored and as such no excess fees can be expected to be charged.
If you intend to travel on to Vietnam, then a visa can be arranged in Sihanoukville. This is usually completed the same day (remember to bring 4 passport size photos). If you are planning to cross into Vietnam at the other border crossing (near Phnom Phen) then there is also an Embassy in Phnom Phen. Laos and Thailand visas can be arranged at the respective Embassies in Phnom Phen or indeed on the border crossing. Find out the price beforehand.
Weather

The Rainy Season officially starts around Khmer New Year which is approximately the middle of April. Generally speaking from this period, there are isolated showers in the evening but it is dry and sunny for most of the day. This lasts up until August when the real wet season arrives and it has been known to rain for several days. This is somewhat uncommon but the weather is erratic to say the least.
